I know I did not write for a long time. Here is what happened. Wedding around Christmas. It was beautiful everyone pitched right in and helped with decorating. We had pie and a sundae bar. My new husband reminded me that Sheldon from the Big Bang Theory said that is the best thing to have at a wedding. I love that show. We didn`t do a honeymoon, because we knew we needed to save the money. So we are planning on going on a trip in a year or so.
After a few days spent at home alone together we drove to visit our families. Christmas Eve was spent with my family and Christmas was spent at his parents place. There were 16 nieces and nephews. The presents were nearly halfway into the living room. The tree looked like one of those small house plants, it seemed so engulfed by all the presents. Alot of the gifts were hand made. It was the biggest Christmas I have ever had, and the best part was that it was all this family together. Which for my husband was a real treat. He is the 9th of 10 kids and most have moved to other states so he doesn`t get to see them often.
So how did I do with all the crazyness having an anxiety disorder? I honestly love big families so it really is fun for me. Most people with anxiety know that that doesn`t always matter. Some times if you even feel a little overwhelmed it can bring on a panic attack. I just took it slow. I took naps which gives me some time apart and that can help. I wanted to be apart of it all more,but I also knew I had to watch myself. The thing about panic attacks is they can last from a few hours to a day. So I have to find ways to keep myself calm. You become very aware of your self. You have to learn to read between the lines of your own emotions.
There are counseling groups and therapists to help teach you how to do this. Trust me you will want help and support at some point if you are seriouse about trying to learn to live with panic attacks and depression.
In the end it comes down to a few things which I am just learning to do now:
- You need to have the patience with yourself to try and pay attention to how you feel.
- Being honest about what situations may not be the best for you to deal with at the moment.
- To have courage and don`t be afraid to have a bad day
Hopefully these few things will help you on your journey for the new year to create for yourself a new life. To be the person you desire to becomes. Tough enough to do more then deal with daily life, but to live it.
